You start in New York and for every white rollover contact on the road you hit, you score 1 point. You "only" have to score 53 points to get to the finish in Washington. To speed up the trip a bit, you score 2 points for hitting a red rollover contact. That adds up nicely. Moreover, if you manage to park your car correctly along the way, you score 2 bonus points.
Meanwhile, you're on the road and after 10 points you drive into Minneapolis. A while later, after 23 points, you leave San Francisco behind and at 41 points you rush past New Orleans.
